How far in advance should I schedule my annual exam? We will send you a reminder letter approximately three (3) months prior to when you are due for your annual. Our doctors normally schedule three (3) months in advance, so please call to schedule even if you do not receive a letter.
I am a new patient and just scheduled an appointment. Can I fill out my paperwork before my appointment? Yes. Please visit the New Patient Paperwork section of our website. You can email us the paperwork after you have filled it out or after you fill it out, print it out at home and bring it in with you. If the forms will not load on your computer, please show up 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out your paperwork. Please, remember to bring your current insurance card(s) and your driver's license or other photo I.D. to your visit. If you have any previous medical history that may pertain to your visit, please contact your former physician and bring the records with you. If they require a medical records release form, please click here and email the form to our office or you can print it and send it to your former physician.
I just found out I'm pregnant. What should I expect at my first visit? Your first OB visit will be with our nurse practitioner or physician assistant. This visit will last approximately one hour. The nurse practitioner or physician assistant will do a Pap smear, you will have lab work done and you will go over any questions you might have on this visit. The nurse practitioner or physician assistant will then inform you who your primary doctor will be for your OB care. We deliver only at St. Luke's Hospital on Barry Road, which has an excellent maternity center and Level II nursery. If you know you have a high-risk condition (this does not include previous miscarriage or infertility), please notify our office prior to your new OB appointment. If you have any previous medical history that may pertain to your OB care, please contact your former physician and bring your records with you.
Can I schedule a tour of the hospital before scheduling an appointment with your office? Yes! Please call our Maternity Care Coordinator at 816-880-6227 to schedule an appointment. Please leave a message explaining that you are interested in delivering at Saint Luke's Northland Hospital and that you would like to take a tour of the unit. Our Maternity Care Coordinator will call you back to schedule a time to meet. Because of the infant security at the hospital, you need to schedule an appointment as opposed to walking in without notice. You can also visit the St. Luke's Maternity webpage for information by clicking here.
